The Knox School
Founded in 1904, The Knox School is set on 40 acres on a peninsula on the North Shore of Long Island only an hour outside of New York City. Its mission is to provide the opportunity for capable students to excel within a liberal arts program infused with artistic and athletic pursuits, in preparation for higher education at selective colleges and universities. Six core values drive the mission – integrity, kindness, courage, responsibility, respect and scholarship. It has a long standing tradition of providing a small, family-like environment in which to live and learn. Other traditions include such things as red-white games, student-faculty athletic contests, senior sing, holiday musicale, parents weekend, senior ring and blazer ceremony, ringing the sports victory bell, and fall, winter and spring athletic and academic ceremonies. Faculty are available for extra support as needed during and after the school day. Knox offers an Honors Portfolio program for every upper school course. We offer 27 elective courses in both the humanities and sciences, and 14 AP classes. A full time college counsellor is on staff to guide the seniors on to institutions of higher education.
