Northwood School

Founded in 1905, Northwood School is an independent coeducational boarding and day school for 170 students in grades 9-12/PG. The campus is located in Lake Placid, New York, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Home to the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games, the village of Lake Placid offers a unique learning environment with a distinctive international ambience. The School is 2 hours from Montreal, Quebec, Canada; Albany, New York; and Burlington, Vermont. The 85-acre campus is nestled in the heart of the village and at the base of Cobble Mountain. Academic and Sports Facilities at Campus

Three-Story Main Building, Science Building, Art Center/Girl’s dorm, Ski Building, Hockey sheds. Three soccer fields, two indoor and two outdoor tennis courts, State of the art fitness center which includes a climbing wall. Whiteface Mountain is 11 miles from school, Olympic ice arena – 1 mile from school. Crew team rows on Mirror Lake, less than ¼ mile from school.

Dormitories and School Residences

Boys dorm in the main building (3 floors), separate girl’s dorm, most students have their own cell phones. Television only available in the Student Center and the girl’s dorm. No cable in individual rooms.
