Linden Hall

Established in 1746, Linden Hall is the oldest girls’ boarding school in the United States. The school is located in the historic town of Lititz, Pa and within a few hours of Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and New York City.

As an independent college-preparatory day and boarding school for girls in grades 6-12 and a post graduate year, Linden Hall has been committed to excellence in the education of young women for 262 years. Linden Hall has recently redesigned its curriculum and increased its academic rigor to provide a challenging and multifaceted learning experience. Here, each student is nurtured and inspired to reach her highest potential. We are a diverse community of life-long learners, set in a structured, family-centered environment. Our community values scholarly achievement, character development, cultural awareness, and physical wellness, as it strives to prepare young women to assume the leadership roles of their generation.

Linden Hall’s student/faculty ratio is 6:1, with an average class size of 8-10 students. Both Honors level and AP courses are offered in English, History, Math, Science, and Art. Students may also participate in Linden Hall’s Advanced Scholars’ Program (ASP), which is a curriculum designed for talented and motivated Upper School students (grades 9-12) who wish to challenge themselves with advanced study at the honors and college levels while in secondary school. A strong college counseling program ensures that all Linden Hall graduates continue their education at the college level.

Extra-curricular activities include photography, drama, vocal and instrumental music, dance, art, community service, newspaper, yearbook, and a school literary magazine. Linden Hall competes in the following interscholastic athletics: soccer, basketball, riding, volleyball, tennis, track, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, swimming, and softball. The riding team competes in the Tri-State Equitation League and Interscholastic Equitation Association; the school hosts five horse shows each year. Linden Hall’s riding team was named Zone II Regional Champions and IEA National Qualifying Team in 2007 and 2008.
