Horizons School

Horizons School, founded in 1978, is a special environment for students and staff who prefer the benefits of a small school. Horizons School is located in Atlanta, Georgia, a city of 3.5 million. Atlanta is the transportation, business, and cultural center of the Southeastern U.S., and is known as the home of Coca Cola, Delta Airlines, 1996 Olympics, Martin Luther King and President Jimmy Carter.

The Horizons experience provides opportunities to practice responsibility, facilitates leadership development, and supports active contributions to the community. The high school academic program offers a college preparatory curriculum with honors, Advanced Placement, and traditional required classes. Students enter the program at any time of the year, but usually at August and January. The Horizons strives to provide a well-rounded experience featuring school trips, diverse student body, work study, internships, independent study, community volunteer service and dramatic production.

Extracurricular activities

Weekend Activities: A schedule of weekend activities is available to boarding students. Regular activities include trips to the movie theatre, local malls, and area restaurants. Special weekend activities include tickets to Atlanta Falcons (Football), Atlanta Hawks (Basketball), Atlanta Braves (Baseball) and Thrashers (Ice Hockey) games, theatre performances, rock climbing, mountain biking, bowling, ice skating, and many other things.
